Over 30 Sharjah government entities to showcase latest achievements, services at GITEX 2018

SHARJAH, (Pakistan Point News - 10th Sep, 2018) The Department of Sharjah eGovernment has announced that 36 government departments in the emirate are set to participate in the "GITEX Technology Week 2018," scheduled from 14th to 18th October at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

All the departments in the Sharjah government are geared up to showcase their latest services at the pavilion of the government. Innovative technological projects are to be unveiled at the exhibition, which is the largest in the ICT sector in MENA and South Asia, and the third largest of its kind worldwide.

The department revealed the unique design of the Sharjah Government Pavilion. It emulates the UAE environment and reflects the spirit of the desert. The model is inspired from the design of Bee'ah building that has been innovated by the Pritzker Award winner Iraqi British engineer, Zaha Hadid.

The announcement was made in a preparatory forum at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday in the presence of Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Executive Chairman of the Department of Government Relations and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Digital Transformation in Sharjah.

Al Qasimi said, "This is in pursuance of the prudent vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to enhance the position of the emirate as a world-class model city, ideal for living, doing business, and providing the highest standards of living.

"Digital transformation has to be used in improving life quality and achieving prosperity for future generations as underlined in the core of the "UAE Vision 2021" and the "UAE Centennial 2071."

Speaking about a strategic plan based on a clear vision that has been adopted for digital transformation in Sharjah, he added, "The main three pillars of digital transformation in Sharjah span data or the importance of getting data from all departments, integration services, and integration in in getting data and information on the emirate in all fields."

Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director-General of the Department of eGovernment, said his department is keen on efficiently contributing to building a knowledge society in Sharjah in line with the vision of the prudent leadership.

"This will be done in a way that supports the process of sustainable development and digital progress economically, socially and at all levels through relentless effort to boost the excellence and leadership of government sector and by expediting transformation to the Government of the Future," he said.

Qualified national cadres need to use sophisticated electronic systems and smart applications to help provide creative and innovative services to the residents and visitors of the emirate, he underscored. "Easy and smooth procedures have to be adopted as per the best international standards," he said.

Meanwhile, Noor Al Noman, Director of the Department of eGovernment, gave a briefing on the most important aspects of the participation of Sharjah government entities. She spoke about the key initiatives, projects and services to be launched by at the pavilion. She also gave an overview of the "unique" and "exceptional" design of the pavilion.
