The Western states understand that the stabilization of the situation in Syria is impossible without resolving the problem around the northwestern Idlib province, which is mainly controlled by militants and terrorists, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Wednesday.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) The Western states understand that the stabilization of the situation in Syria is impossible without resolving the problem around the northwestern Idlib province, which is mainly controlled by militants and terrorists, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Wednesday.
"Our Western colleagues are very well aware of the fact that the liberation of this Syrian region [of Idlib] from terrorist groups and criminals should be ensured. They realize very well that the normalization of the station in Syria is impossible without finding the solution to this problem," Ryabkov told reporters.
Preserving the existence of this terrorist enclave in Idlib would bring new threats to Syrian security, including the threat of the use of chemical weapons, Ryabkov suggested.
Idlib is one of the Syrian areas where terrorists and militants, particularly those who are part of the Jabhat Fatah al Sham terrorist group (banned in Russia) or the ones affiliated with it, are active. Moreover, thousands of militants have been transported to the province from other Syrian regions under deals with Damascus.
Russian officials have recently said referring to sources that Idlib terrorists were planning to carry out a false-flag chemical attack in the province to be blamed on the Syrian government forces.
