The Islamic State terrorist group (IS, outlawed in Russia) has created a well-functioning system for buying chemical substances and producing improvised explosive devices, representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Olga Lanchenko said on Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th September, 2018) The Islamic State terrorist group (IS, outlawed in Russia) has created a well-functioning system for buying chemical substances and producing improvised explosive devices, representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Olga Lanchenko said on Tuesday.
"The scale of the use of improvised explosive devices is growing. The IS is known to have created an effective system for purchasing chemical agents and other elements for the explosive devices, and to be producing them on an unprecedented scale," Lanchenko said at the conference on Countering Illicit Arms Trafficking in the Context of Fighting International Terrorism in Moscow.
She added that, according to some reports, around 50 companies from 20 countries were involved in supplying the Islamic State with elements necessary for the production of explosive devices.
