Russian Trade Ministry Says Civilian Goods' Share in Defense Industry to Reach 19% in 2018

The share of civilian products manufactured by Russia's defense industry enterprises is expected to reach 19 percent this year and grow to 50 percent by 2030, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th September, 2018) The share of civilian products manufactured by Russia's defense industry enterprises is expected to reach 19 percent this year and grow to 50 percent by 2030, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told Sputnik.

"This year, we will have an increase of civilian [products' share] at defense industry enterprises - it accounts for about 19 percent of total production compared to 18 percent last year. And we expect to keep up the pace in the future to reach the goal of 50-50 by 2030," Manturov said.

The minister added that some enterprises like Shvabe Holding already managed to beat the target of 50 percent.

Russia is seeking to diversify its defense industry and gradually replace state orders for military equipment by civil-use products.
