Putin Awards Order of Friendship to Head of Austrian Oil Company

Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded Austrian OMV oil and gas company CEO Rainer Seele with Order of Friendship for boosting friendly ties between the two states, the Russian legal information portal said on Monday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd September, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded Austrian OMV oil and gas company CEO Rainer Seele with Order of Friendship for boosting friendly ties between the two states, the Russian legal information portal said on Monday.

The order was conferred as a recognition of "the merits of strengthening friendship and cooperation between the nations."

Apart from Seele, the order was also awarded to Unilever consumers goods company CEO Paul Polman.

On June 4, Russia and Austria celebrated the 50th anniversary of the start of bilateral gas trade. Since 1968, Russia has delivered to Austria over 218 billion cubic meters of gas. In 2017, about 93 percent of Austria's total gas imports were provided by Russia's Gazprom.
