DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 03rd Sep, 2018) Emirates Transport, ET, the largest and oldest provider of school transport in the UAE, has reported overall good transport operations for the start of the 2018-2019 school year.
On Sunday, nearly 6,000 school buses belonging to the Federal transport company transported 246,000 students to and from 716 government and private schools across the country.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, General Manager of Emirates Transport, congratulated the education community on the start of the new school year and urged everyone connected with the education sector, as well as the general public, to continue their cooperation in ensuring and implementing all school transport safety procedures.
He also confirmed that the ET school transport fleet was boosted by 140 new buses for the new school year, adding that the enormous daily transport operation employs 5,842 bus drivers and 7,900 school bus supervisors. It is operated out of nine school transport branches and 26 bus depots spread nationwide.
Meanwhile, the ET branches in all emirates concluded a number of preparation events as part of the School Transport Week, which is held annually in the lead up to the start of a new school year.
The week-long event is organised in cooperation with the ministries of education and the interior and includes intensive training and awareness sessions for thousands of bus drivers and supervisors.
The preparations for the new school year also included replacing a number of school buses with newer models, and the implementation of thousands of periodic and preventative maintenance services to the ET’s fleet of school buses.
