Around midnight, a man wounded a police officer from a firearm. The policeman died of injuries at the scene. The incident occurred at Kurskaya metro station.
"Moscow police has detained a suspect in causing a fatal wound to a police officer at Kurskaya metro station," the spokeswoman said.
The suspect is currently being taken to the police department for investigation, Volk added.
