Total Of 16 Truce Breaches Registered In Syria's Idlib In Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd September, 2018) A total of 16 ceasefire violations have been recorded on the part of armed groups in Syria's Idlib de-escalation zone, the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation said on Saturday.

"Despite the agreed ceasefire regime, the number of violations on the part of the illegal armed groups operating in the Idlib de-escalation zone is not decreasing," Lt. Gen. Vladimir Savchenko said at a briefing, adding that the total number of breaches recorded in the zone over the past 24 hours reached 16.

The official added that the center had conducted checks of the quality of medical assistance administered to the residents in the province of Deir ez-Zor.

A total of 1,914 humanitarian activities have been conducted by the center since the start of the settlement process, Savchenko concluded.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and militant and terrorist organizations. Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. Moscow has also been providing humanitarian aid to residents of the crisis-torn country.
