The militants were killed during two raids, with Egyptian troops seizing explosives and communication equipment used by extremists, according to the statement.
Moreover, 18 suspects were detained over alleged links with criminals.
Egypt has been fighting militant insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula and conducting anti-terror operations in an effort to curb the extremist activities in the region.
