Russian power engineering company Power Machines said in a press release on Tuesday that it expected the country's government to allocate 3 billion rubles ($44.5 million) for the development of large-capacity gas turbines in 2019.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th August, 2018) Russian power engineering company Power Machines said in a press release on Tuesday that it expected the country's government to allocate 3 billion rubles ($44.5 million) for the development of large-capacity gas turbines in 2019.

On Monday, a meeting of the Russian Presidential Commission on the Strategy for the Development of the Fuel and Energy Industry and Environmental Safety was held in the Russian city of Kemerovo. During the meeting, Alexey Mordashov, the chairman of the Power Machines board of Directors, proposed to manufacture domestically produced gas turbine systems with capacities of 65 and 170 megawatts (MW).

"Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the proposal and ordered that 3 billion rubles in government co-financing be allocated for these development efforts in 2019," the company's statement said.

Apart from turbine production, Mordashov also launched an initiative to construct a power plant where the turbines might be put into operation and receive their first operational characteristics.
