German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Donald Trump discussed in phone talks on Monday discussed trade issues as well as the situation in Syria, Ukraine and Western Balkans, the German Cabinet said.
BERLIN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th August, 2018) German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Donald Trump discussed in phone talks on Monday discussed trade issues as well as the situation in Syria, Ukraine and Western Balkans, the German Cabinet said.
"Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation on Monday afternoon, focusing on current international problems and trade issues," the Cabinet's press service said in a statement.
"The Chancellor and the President share concerns about the events in Syria, in particular, the humanitarian situation in the Idlib province. Russia is called upon to exert a moderate influence on the Syrian regime and prevent further escalation," the statement said.
According to the statement, the situation in Ukraine and the Western Balkans was also on the agenda of the talks.
