Diesel, electrical wires lead rises in building material prices in July 2018: SCAD

Diesel and electrical wires posted the largest the rises recorded in building materials prices during July 2018, compared with July 2017, according to a report issued by Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) on the prices of building material for the month of July 2018.

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 27th Aug, 2018) Diesel and electrical wires posted the largest the rises recorded in building materials prices during July 2018, compared with July 2017, according to a report issued by Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) on the prices of building material for the month of July 2018.

The report presents an analysis of movements in the prices of the 21 main groups of building materials and is of special significance for planning, decision support and policy making in the construction activity and related sectors.

As SCAD’s report finds, the average prices of ‘construction labour’ advanced by 1.8 percent, concrete by 1.6 percent and the ‘aggregates and sand’ group by 0.3 percent, during July 2018 compared with June 2018. However, price falls were recorded over the same period of comparison for power cables by 4.8 percent, diesel by 1.8 percent and the ‘tiles and marble’ group by 1.7 percent.

A year-over-year comparison of the average prices of building material for July 2018 against July 2017 reveals increases in the price of ‘Diesel’ (up 44.6 percent), ‘wires for apartments’ by (up 23.9 percent) and ‘wires for small buildings’ (up 16.2 percent). Meanwhile the average prices of ‘the ‘tiles and marble’ group’ decreased by 0.7 percent and ‘concrete’ by 0.5 percent.
