UPDATE - Magnitude 6.1 Earthquake Hits Western Iran - US Geological Survey

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th August, 2018) An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit on Saturday western Iran, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake was registered at 22:13 GMT, with the epicenter located 31 kilometers (8 miles) to the west of the town of Javanrud at the depth of 10 kilometers, according to the USGS data.

According to the Press-TV broadcaster, at least one person died and 58 others were injured in the quake.

The Al-Sumaria broadcaster reported that the earthquake was also felt in Baghdad and several northeastern provinces of Iraq.
