Turkish Forces Eliminate 2 PKK Militants, Including Most Wanted Terrorist - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) Turkish forces have eliminated two militants linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), including one on Turkey's most-wanted list, during an anti-terror operation in the countrys northern Gumushane province, local media reported on Wednesday, citing the regional governor Okay Memis.

Baris Oner, or Turk Tarik, was killed in the Kurtun district of the province, Memis told the Anadolu news agency said.

In a separate operation, the Turkish forces captured a PKK leader in the countrys eastern province of Van, the media reported, citing an official statement.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey. Tensions between Ankara and the Kurds escalated in July 2015 when a ceasefire between Turkey and the PKK collapsed over a series of terror attacks allegedly committed by the PKK members. The Turkish forces are involved in anti-PKK raids across the country.
