MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) As many as five US Osprey transport aircraft will be stationed at the Yokota air base in the suburbs of Tokyo in the beginning of October, media reported on Wednesday, citing the Japanese government.
The government said it was informed by the US military that the deployment was planned for October 1, according to the NHK broadcaster.
The US military said in April that five Ospreys would be deployed at the Yokota base ahead of schedule. The stationing of the aircraft was initially reportedly planned for October 2019.
The planes will be used to transport special force personnel, the tv channel specified.
