Officials from 12 countries, including the United States, have been invited to attend the Moscow-format consultations on Afghanistan on September 4, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) Officials from 12 countries, including the United States, have been invited to attend the Moscow-format consultations on Afghanistan on September 4, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
"The current Moscow meeting will be the second in this format. Unlike the previous one, it will be held under the joint chairmanship of Russia and Afghanistan. Similar to the first meeting, the invitations have sent to 12 countries, including the United States. In addition, the leadership of the political office of the Taliban Movement in Doha was invited to the meeting," the ministry said in a statement.
"The purpose of the forthcoming meeting is to help bring closer together the positions of the Afghan government and the Taliban movement on launching a direct inter-Afghan peace dialogue," the statement said.
