Chinese Premier Congratulates Imran Khan on Assuming Office of Pakistani Prime Minister

Chinese Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang sent on Saturday a telegram to Imran Khan congratulating him on assuming office of the Pakistani prime minister, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.

BEIJING (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th August, 2018) Chinese Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang sent on Saturday a telegram to Imran Khan congratulating him on assuming office of the Pakistani prime minister, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier in the day, Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, was sworn in as the country's 22nd prime minister.

"I highly appreciate your positive stance regarding the further development of China-Pakistan relations, and I am ready to establish good working relations and personal friendship with you, as well as to deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields between the two countries," the ministry quoted Lis telegram.

Khan was elected prime minister as a result of Friday's vote in the country's National Assembly.

One of Khans foreign policy goals is to boost cooperation between Pakistan and its neighbors, particularly with China.
