Russia Registers 25 Truce Breaches in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire regime in Syria has registered 25 truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side recorded three violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire regime in Syria has registered 25 truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side recorded three violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.

"The situation in the de-escalation zones is assessed as stable. Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 25 cases of firing in the provinces of Aleppo (11), Hama (2) and Latakia (12). The Turkish side has registered three cases of ceasefire violation in Idlib (2) and Hama (1) provinces," the ministry said in its daily bulletin.

The ministry added that 14 Syrians had received medical assistance over the past 24 hours. Besides, two humanitarian operations were held by the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in the provinces of Deir ez-Zor and Daraa, with a total of 650 sets of food delivered to each province.

The number of armed groups which claim to be adhering to the ceasefire regime has remained unchanged, standing at 234.

Russia, alongside Iran and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both by supporting the struggle against terrorist groups and providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the crisis-torn country.
