Kiev Plans to Discuss Future Cooperation With IMF Mission in September - Ministry

The Ukrainian authorities plan to discuss with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, which will visit Kiev in September, the continuation of cooperation after the conclusion of the four-year IMF support program, Acting Ukrainian Finance Minister Oksana Markarova said on Monday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th August, 2018) The Ukrainian authorities plan to discuss with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, which will visit Kiev in September, the continuation of cooperation after the conclusion of the four-year IMF support program, Acting Ukrainian Finance Minister Oksana Markarova said on Monday.

The visit of the IMF mission to Ukraine is scheduled for September 6-19. The two parties are expected to discuss the latest economic developments as well as future cooperation, in particular, the IMF financial assistance to the country in order to ensure its macroeconomic stability and sustainable growth.

"We are interested in discussing with the fund both the current issues and the continuation of cooperation after the program's conclusion in March 2019 in order to ensure stability and predictability of Ukraine's development for the citizens, national businesses and foreign investors," Markarova was quoted as saying in the Finance Ministry's statement.

She added that she was confident that the IMF would continue to support economic reforms in the country, implemented by the president, the government and the National Bank.

The IMF 2015-2019 aid program under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) provides for the allocation of $17.5 billion to Ukraine. Ukraine has already received four tranches of credit and expected to receive the fifth one in December, however, it has not been allocated so far since Kiev has not met all the IMF requirements. The creation of an anti-corruption court in Ukraine and the increase of domestic gas prices remain IMF main demands.
