Ammar Al Nuaimi launches 5th Liwa Ajman Dates Festival

H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and President of the Ajman Executive Council, praised the initiative to organise the Liwa Ajman Dates Festival, as well as the understanding of the festival’s organisers about the importance of the palm tree, which is a key pillar of Emirati heritage.

Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and President of the Ajman Executive Council, praised the initiative to organise the Liwa Ajman Dates Festival, as well as the understanding of the festival’s organisers about the importance of the palm tree, which is a key pillar of Emirati heritage.

He added that the ongoing support of the wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has showcased Emirati heritage and promoted it among new generations while praising the efforts to ensure the festival’s success in Abu Dhabi, Ajman and the other emirates.

He made this statement today while launching the 5th Liwa Ajman Dates Festival 2018, which was organised by the Department of Tourism Development, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman. Over 40 entities are participating in the festival.

Sheikh Ammar lauded the festival’s ongoing organisation, as well as the Emirati companies that cultivate and improve date palm crops, which have become among the leading companies in the industry.

He also called on the festival’s organisers to continue holding the festival in Ajman every year and noted that the festival is a platform for those interested in palm tree cultivation to meet and exchange views about investing in agriculture and production, especially as the UAE is known for various types of quality dates.

The launch of the festival was attended by Mariam Hareb Almheiri, Minister of State for food Security; Sheikh Dr. Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Division of Food Diversification at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change; Abdullah Amin, Advisor to the Ruler's Court; Saleh Mohammed Al Jaziri, Director-General of the Department of Tourism Development in Ajman; Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmouk, Director-General of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Centre; Mohammed Ghanem Al Mansouri, CEO of Fawaa, as well as many sheikhs, heads and directors of government departments and institutions, and senior officials.

Organisers prepared an interesting fun filled programme for residents and visitors alike, who can enjoy the taste of Dates in the culinary corner, take a stroll through the traditional market, and enjoy authentic Emirati hospitality in the Majilis, whilst witnessing the performance of traditional bands.

For young visitors, a kids' corner includes cultural competitions and art workshops, highlighting the importance of dates and palm trees.
