Khalifa International Award for Date Palm announces registration in "The Palm Tree in the Eyes of the World" competition

The General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation announced registration in the 10th "The Palm Tree in the Eyes of the World" photography competition in 2019, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi International Photographic Society, ADIPS, and under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award.

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 16th Jul, 2018) The General Secretariat of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation announced registration in the 10th "The Palm Tree in the Eyes of the World" photography competition in 2019, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi International Photographic Society, ADIPS, and under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance and Chairman of the board of Trustees of the Award.

The award’s general secretariat called on lovers of photography, both amateurs and professionals, from around the world to participate in the competition, which will be held to appreciate the date palm tree and promote the role of photographers in enriching the public’s memory and reviving their environmental heritage.

In his statement, Dr. Abdul Wahab Zayed, Secretary-General of the Award, said that the competition’s previous success has ensured an increase in the number of participants from numerous countries and the quality of the participating photographs. He added that the competition employs the art of photography to improve the public’s awareness of the importance of the date palm tree, and create a welcoming space to exchange expertise between photographers from around the world, as well as highlight the tourism, environmental and heritage aspects of the date palm tree through the photographs, and connect the people to the earth and agriculture.

Dr. Zayed noted that the first place winner will receive AED20,000, the second place winner will receive AED15,000, and the third place winner will receive AED10,000. All the winners will receive certificates of appreciation and commemorative shields, he added.

A specialist technical committee supervised by the ADIPS will assess the participating photographs. The award’s general secretariat will then announce the Names of the winners in February 2019. The winners will be honoured during an exhibition and special celebration in March 2019, under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak.
