Inimical forces not willing to absorb a peaceful, stable Pakistan: COAS condemns Peshawar blast

At least 20 people were killed and 62 others were injured in suicide blast at ANP rally in Peshawar

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 11th July, 2018) Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has condemned the suicide blast at an election rally of Awami National Party (ANP) in Peshawar late Tuesday.

At least 20 people were killed and 62 others were injured as a suicide bomber blew himself up at an election rally of ANP at Yaka Toot area of the city. The blast claimed life of Haroon Bilour, candidate of ANP for PK-78.

Following the blast, the army chief has shared the grief of Bilour family and ANP.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the ISPR said, “COAS shares grief of Bilour family & ANP on condemnable targeting of Haroon Bilour & victims of heinous terrorist attk.”

The COAS said that we are fighting against nexus of inimical forces which aren’t willing to absorb a peaceful and stable Pakistan and added that we remain undeterred and shall defeat them, the ISPR said in his tweet.

Following the attack, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed election on the provincial assembly seat PK-78.

According to ECP, new date for holding election in this constituency will be announced later.
