Habib Bank to contribute Rs 10 crore in dams fund

Funds for dams can be deposited in 16,000 branches of the banks: SBP deputy governor

Karachi (Pakistan Point News – 10th July, 2018) Habib Bank Ltd has announced to donate Rs 10 crore for the construction of dams.

Following the chief justice, Pak Army and the Senate chairman, Habib Bank Ltd has announced funding for the dams.

State Bank Deputy Governor Shams ul Hassan held a press conference in Karachi on Tuesday and announced that Habib Bank has announced to donate Rs 10 crore for the purpose.

He said that water is not only a current issue but is also the issue of the coming generations.

He further said that water reservoirs are important for any country, adding that the update of Dam Construction Fund is available online. The funds can be deposited in 16,000 branches of the banks.

The deputy governor said that he will not let any hurdle come in the way of funding of dams.

The trend was started by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar who donated Rs 10 lac for the construction of dams.

Following the chief justice, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Monday that the officers of Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force would contribute their two-day pay, while soldiers one-day pay for this national cause while acting President Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani announced a donation of Rs1.5 million in the funds meant for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

Moreover, the employees of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) also announced to contribute their salary in the construction of Bhasha and Mohmand dams. FESCO spokesman Tahir Sheikh said that FESCO officers would deposit their three-day salary in the dams fund whereas FESCO officials will contribute their one-day salary for this purpose.

Officers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government will contribute their three-day salary to the fund for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.
