Ishaq Dar seeks political asylum in London

Dar has sought political asylum on grounds of his poor health and the difficulties he has to face in Pakistan.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 10th July, 2018) Former finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Ishaq Dar has taken political asylum in London.

According to media reports, Dar has applied for political asylum on grounds of his poor health and the difficulties he has to face in Pakistan.

According to Foreign Office sources, Dar has sought political asylum in London citing his health and the difficulties in Pakistan as the reasons.

Sources said that the Britain government has not yet responded to the application; however, if he is able to get an asylum, he will not return to the country. Consequently, the cases against him will prolong.

The Supreme Court had served notices to Ishaq Dar, former Federal Information Secretary Muhammad Azam and then Finance Secretary Waqar Masood to appear in the court on July 9 on account of approving salary, perks and privileges of Ata-ul-Haq Qasmi in official capacity.

Failing to appear in the court yesterday, the apex court ordered Dar to appear before the court within three days.

“We are giving Dar another chance. He should appear before the court within three days,” the bench remarked while directing that summons be sent to the former finance minister’s house.
