ADDIS ABABA, (Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2018) Ethiopian officials say at least one person died and 154 are injured, after an explosion at a rally for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Abiy was quoted by the Ethiopia tv as terming the act of terror an "unsuccessful attempt by forces who do not want to see Ethiopia united".
He was whisked away immediately after the blast, thought to be from a grenade thrown amid thousands of people in Addis Ababa's Meskel Square.
Ethiopia's health minister said in a press statement that one person had died and 154 were injured, 10 of them critically.
"The UAE condemns this criminal and coward act of terrorism, which seeks to undermine security and stability of Ethiopia and contravenes religious and human values and principles,'' said a statement issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Saturday.
