Lord Provost Ian Borthwick of Dundee, met with the students who acquired scholarships to the Al Maktoum College to participate in its "Cultural Pluralism and Leadership Skills Programme," during his visit to the college on the first day of the programme, in the presence of Dr. Abu Bakr Jaber, Director of the College.
DUNDEE, (Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2018) Lord Provost Ian Borthwick of Dundee, met with the students who acquired scholarships to the Al Maktoum College to participate in its "Cultural Pluralism and Leadership Skills Programme," during his visit to the college on the first day of the programme, in the presence of Dr. Abu Bakr Jaber, Director of the College.
Borthwick welcomed the students and wished them a pleasant stay in Scotland, and hoped that they would learn Scottish culture and history and achieve the goals of the programme while noting that the programme is very popular.
Jaber said that the programme’s first week will address cultural pluralism and Scottish history, and will include lectures on globalisation, diversity and pluralism, as well as a lecture on the struggle of Scottish women for equality during the 19th and 20th centuries, and another on modern Scottish history.
He added that the programme’s second week will address Scottish culture and will include visits to Dundee College, Sterling Castle and the Highland Wildlife Park. The third week will include lectures on leadership, culture, Muslim women and leadership, as well as on other challenges and opportunities while the fourth week will take place in Paris and will feature a dialogue on civilisations, he further added.
Some 74 female students from 13 universities and colleges in the UAE, as well as from the Police academy in Abu Dhabi, the Economics and Political Sciences College at Cairo University, the Malay University in Malaysia, Fujairah University, the Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart College, and for the first time from the Emirates National Oil Company, ENOC, started the programme’s 26th edition yesterday.
