Imran Khan did not contact CT Interior Minister for Zulfi Bukhari

Bukhari sent an undertaking to interior secretary asking to remove travel embargo for a month

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 20th June, 2018) Caretaker Interior Minister Azam Khan has said that nobody called him to remove Zulfi Bukhari’s name from the blacklist.

He said that he did not have any contact with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over the matter.

According to details, Zulfi Bukhari was not allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia In last week of Ramzan as he accompanied Khan and his wife for Umrah. According to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sources, Bukhari was set to fly to Saudi Arabia from Rawalpindi via a chartered flight along with Khan and his wife when he was asked to disembark as his name is placed on the Exit Control List (ECL). However, Khan managed to take Bukhari along with him for Umrah after a phone call, following which Bukhari’s name was removed from the blacklist.

There were speculations that Imran had called the caretaker interior minister to remove Bukhari’s name from ECL. However, Azam Khan while talking to media on Wednesday said that nobody contacted him to remove Bukhari’s name from ECL.

He said that Bukhari sent an undertaking to the interior secretary asking to remove travel embargo for a month to perform Umrah. The interior secretary gave me an application of a month but I approved only six days, he said.

The caretaker interior minister said that NAB had requested to put Bukhari’s name in ECL while the Interior Ministry blacklisted him under Passport Act. Putting someone’s name in ECL is a long procedure and requires permission from the cabinet, he added.

He said that there have been many false reports in media regarding this issue.
