ABU DHABI (Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2018) the Republic of Costa Rica said today that it is looking forward to working with the UAE in promoting the importance of renewable energy.
The Embassy of the Republic of Costa Rica to the UAE said in a statement today, "Costa Rica looks forward to teaming up with countries like the UAE in raising awareness on the importance of clean energy to construct the green sustainable economy of the near future."
The statement was issued on the occasion of the Central American country becoming permanent member of the Abu Dhabi-based the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
"Costa Rica is grateful for the opportunity it will have to contribute with its experience and knowledge of renewable energy," the statement added.
Costa Rica currently generates more than 99 per cent of its electricity using five different renewable sources; hydropower (78%), wind (10%), geothermal energy (10%), biomass and solar (1%).
