PMLN suggests four names for Punjab caretaker CM

The four names include former IB DG Aftab Sultan, former Pak Bahria chief Zakaullah, former Punjab IG Tariq Dogar and Justice (r) Sair Ali

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 2nd June, 2018) The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has given four nominations for the position of caretaker chief minister of Punjab.

The four Names include former Intelligence Bureau (IB) DG Aftab Sultan, former Pak Bahria chief Zakaullah, former Punjab IG Tariq Dogar and Justice (r) Sair Ali.

The decision on caretaker chief minister of Punjab hangs in balance as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership remained in a split upon the nominations.

The PTI had at first suggested former bureaucrat Nasir Mahmood Khosa’s name for caretaker chief minister of Punjab. However, it took a U-turn and decided to withdraw the name of Nasir Khosa for the position. Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rashid said in a statement that the PTI had decided to take back the name of Nasir Khosa and would suggest another name after consultation with the party leadership.

The PTI then decided to nominate senior defence analyst Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP Nasir Durrani for the position of caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab after controversy with Nasir Mahmood Khosa.

However, the former KP IGP excused from taking the charge citing health issues as the reason. Durrani said that his health does not allow him to fulfill these responsibilities.

It then suggested Orya Maqbool Jan and Yaqoob Tahir Izhar’s names along with Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi for the position. However, Orya Maqbool Jan’s name was later replaced by journalist and analyst Ayaz Amir.
