The grain procurement activity initiated by government, covering major grain growing areas of Sindh and Punjab
Karachi/lahore, (Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2018) : The grain procurement activity initiated by government, covering major grain growing areas of Sindh and Punjab. The provincial governments along with the Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corporation has taken measures to facilitate the farmers to sell their produces at official fixed rates of 1,300 rupees per 40 kg. So far about 2.3 million tons of the commodity has been procured. The provincial governments and PASSCO have also set up their procurement centers across the wheat growing areas for facilitating the growers and providing them necessary assistance to sell their grains.
According to food Security Commissioner Dr Imtiaz Ahmad, Punjab Province has so far procured about 1.5 million tons of the wheat as against the set targets of 4 million tons. Meanwhile, wheat procurement in Sindh Province has reached to 800,000 tons as against the set target of 1.4 million tons.
