Pak-US relations affected by Trump's tweet: DG ISPR

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that the Pak-US relations have been affected by US President Donald Trump’s new year tweet where he alleged Pakistan of giving it nothing but ‘lies and deceit’

RAWALPINDI (Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2018 ) Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that the Pak-US relations have been affected by US President Donald Trump’s new year tweet where he alleged Pakistan of giving it nothing but ‘lies and deceit’. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said, “If Pakistan had not played a positive role, the US would not have become a superpower.

India should also be grateful to Pakistan for rooting out terrorism from the region. Instability in Pakistan is not in India’s interest. Had Pakistan not waged a war against al-Qaeda, the war on terror would have extended till India.” He said that Pakistan Day celebrations and the holding of Pakistan Super League matches in Pakistan is the success of security. He further said that the world is turning towards geo-economy from geo-politics, and added, “We are facing some challenges.

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a big challenge and we have to make this project successful. We have to work on this project in view of geo-economy. CPEC will benefit the entire region, including Pakistan and China.” The other challenge, he said, is that if the world sees us with a suspicion despite rendering so many sacrifices in ending terrorism and establishing peace in the region then there’s no benefit of playing this role.

He said that Balochistan would see development in the future due to Khushhaal Balochistan Program. About the security situation in Karachi, the ISPR said, “A security operation was launched in Karachi in 2013 and now you witnessed a PSL match in the city. There were at least 70 no-go areas in 2009 which have been cleared today. Public meetings were held in 2017 but they did not see any terror incident.” “The Karachi Stock Exchange is improving but there’s still much more to do in the city after restoration of peace,” he added.
