Ex Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef gets another disqualification within span of 7 months
(Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2018 ) Ex Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef gets another disqualification within span of 7 months. The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday disqualified Nawaz Shareef as PML-N's president by announcing its verdict on petitions challenging the Elections Act 2017. Supreme Court in its ruling stated that a person disqualified under Article 62 and 63 cannot serve as the head of a political party. The decision was given by the three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar.
Supreme Court's Decision is being considered as another blow for ruling party PML-N. As per the media reports, urgent meeting of PML-N senior leadership have been summoned in Jati Umra, Raiwand. Sources Claim decision regarding choosing new PML-N president will be made in Jati Umra meeting. Shehbaz Shareef has become front runner for PML-N's presidency after his brother's disqualification. Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Shareef will be appointed as PML-N's president after formal approval by Nawaz Shareef.
