NEW DELHI, (Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2018) : Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described visit by President Rouhani to India as golden opportunity to broaden bilateral ties. He made the remarks in a ceremony held for signing a memorandum of understanding between the two countries. Modi pointed to thousand years of cultural relations between the two nations, and said that mutual cooperation is based upon trust. 'Tehran and New Delhi intend to expand mutual cooperation more than past,' he said.
Modi appreciated Iran's efforts in developing rail cooperation between the two countries, and said that India through Chabahar as a golden gate may be connected to Afghanistan and Central Asia. He underlined joint negotiation in the field of economy and bolstering banking exchange as well as cultural issues the two sides had constructive talks. The prime minister underlined the necessity for expansion of bilateral relations, especially in the field of regional issues, adding that cooperation between Iran and India in the field of security would be beneficial for stability in the region.
He said Iran and India may expand their mutual cooperation against terrorism and drug trafficking. Modi called visit of President Hassan Rouhani to his country very important, and said that the visit may be beneficial for both countries and nations of the region. In the ceremony and in presence of President Hassan Rouhani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi 15 memorandum of understandings were signed by senior officials of the two states. President Rouhani, heading high-ranking officials, arrived in India last Thursday for a 3-day official visit.
