The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organised a seminar on “Patent Drafting and Filing Techniques” for faculty members and researchers here on Friday

LAHORE (Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2018 ) : The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organised a seminar on “Patent Drafting and Filing Techniques” for faculty members and researchers here on Friday. Patent Attorney Mr Saad Nasrullah was the resource person of the seminar. In his lecture, he spoke about various aspects of Patent Drafting, Filing Techniques and Intellectual Property Rights.

On the occasion, UVAS Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani chaired the inaugural session of the seminar. He said patent documentation is required in innovation research especially in the development of livestock in Pakistan. The countries which manage their intellectual assets properly obtain prominent stature among the nations, he added.   Later Director ORIC Dr Hafsa Zaneb presented the vote of thanks. A number of UVAS faculty members and students attended seminar.

 The basic purpose of the seminar was to familiarize faculty members and researchers with the drafting of a patent application. 2-day International Conference on “Omics for Animal Sciences: Opportunities and Challenges” to be start on 20th February at UVAS LAHORE (16-02-18): The Institute of Biochemistry & Biotechnology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with Punjab Agriculture Research board (PARB) and Higher education Commission (HEC) Islamabad is arranging a 2-day “International Conference on Omics for Animal Sciences: Opportunities and Challenges”  scheduled on 20th February at City Campus Lahore.

Renowned academicians, researchers, biotechnologists from public & private organizations, students related to veterinary & animal sciences while experts from different countries including Malaysia, China, India, Brazil, Turkey and all over the Pakistan are expected to participate in conference.Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar is expected to chair the inaugural session of the conference. The objective of the conference will be the advancement in molecular techniques for improvement of livestock is continuously replacing previous methodologies.

The conference will focus on learning about the genomics methodologies for improving livestock capabilities, efficient and cost effective protocol for detection of variant in DNA, RNA or protein that can be associated with economically important traits in livestock and conceptual interaction and thoughtful discussion with the livestock genetics and stakeholders etc. Total five technical sessions and poster presentations will also be conducted during two days event.
