Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News - 13th Feb, 2018) : Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) in collaboration with Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), has organized a Training Workshop on "Design and Management of Solar Powered Drip Irrigation System" from February 13 to16, 2018 in the Federal capital, Islamabad. The workshop was attended by the farmers who recently adopted Solar Powered Drip Irrigation System in their fields.

While speaking on the inaugural session of the workshop, Member (Natural Resources) PARC, Dr. Munir Ahmed emphasized that farming is a noble profession and there is a need to adopt water conservation practices due to limited water resources. Country Manager ICARDA, Dr. Abdul Majeed highlighted the role of agriculture service provider in successful adoption of water conservation technologies including drip irrigation system. Chairman PCRWR, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf in his opening remarks said that only difference between the farmers of developed countries and under developed countries is the knowledge and education. These farmers will also visit the field sites where solar pumped drip irrigation system practiced successfully.
