Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Nehal Hashmi on Tuesday submitted intra-court appeal in Supreme Court (SC) against his sentence in contempt of court case
ISLAMABAD,(Pakistan Point News - 06th Feb, 2018 ) : Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Nehal Hashmi on Tuesday submitted intra-court appeal in Supreme Court (SC) against his sentence in contempt of court case. In the plea, Hashmi stated that his speeches don’t come under contempt of court as he is also a lawyer by profession, continuing that he was indicted despite filing unconditional apology. He said that the court should have shown lenient behavior in his case as the record did not show any contempt of court attempt.
Earlier on February 1, SC had sentenced Senator Nehal Hashmi to one month in prison over contempt of court case against him. A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Khosa had also disqualified the accused for five years, asking him to submit Rs50,000 fine. The decision was abruptly opposed by Justice Dost Mohammad. The court also rejected unconditional apology plea of Nehal Hashmi.
