ISLAMABAD, (Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jan, 2018) : Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday has said that the nation will only vote on Nawaz Sharif’s picture, not anyone else. Addressing a ceremony, PM Abbasi questioned that what Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will receive if it asks for vote on Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s picture. He further challenged the opposition to bring no-confidence motion against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, adding that he will only dissolve the assembly if Nawaz’s party says.
Talking on the ‘curse on parliament’ comment by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan, the premier said that he cannot say anything about such people who donot respect institutions. Shedding light on Pak-US relations, PM said that there is no military danger from America and that Pakistan really wants to resolve Afghanistan issue. US is spending huge amount of money in Afghanistan, he added.
Later, speaking to journalists here he said that He said that the ex-premier Nawaz Sharif will lead the electioneering of PML-N for the 2018 general elections and will contest the next elections by placing Nawaz Sharif’s pictures on the party banners. “Previous caretaker prime ministers sold thousands of gas connections, but we will ensure this does not happen again,” Abbasi said. The premier also said that presenting the next budget in parliament was the prerogative of the caretaker government, but his party would prepare and finalise it before leaving office.
“I am the most frightening premier to have held this post because I speak the plain truth,” Abbasi quipped during a light-hearted moment in his media brief. Commenting on the uncertain political situation in the country, the PML-N leader sought to quash rumours about the fragility of democracy. “Senate elections will be held on time. The parliament is in no danger, and those who want to dissolve it should first dare and file a no-confidence motion against me.
” He stressed that his party was clean and did not need a National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). He said character and personality of judges should be discussed ahead of their appointment. He added that the nation must know what kind of a personality the judge has. “Corrupt judges are being appointed ever since the powers to appoint judges were given to the judiciary,” Abbasi said. He added, “There is judicial activism in the country”.
