AKTC assures Punjab CM of technical assistance for conservation of historical places

Agha Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) has assured the Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shehbaz Sharif of providing technical assistance with regard to conservation, repair and maintenance of Shalamar Garden and Jahangir Tomb.

LAHORE, (Pakistan Point News - 18th Jan, 2018) : Agha Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) has assured the Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shehbaz Sharif of providing technical assistance with regard to conservation, repair and maintenance of Shalamar Garden and Jahangir Tomb. A delegation of AKTC headed by its General Manager (GM) Mr. Luis Monreal called on Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here on Thursday. During the meeting, bilateral discussion was held regarding further expanding the program of protection and conservation of historical places.

Talking to the delegation, the Chief Minister appreciated different welfare-oriented steps taken by the Aga Khan Trust and added that its services in the field of education and healthcare are commendable. He said that the mutual cooperation between Punjab government and Aga Khan Trust is expending day by day and unprecedented steps have been taken for the restoration of historical places as well as the centuries’ old walled city.

He maintained that a lot of benefit has been gained through the expertise of Aga Khan Trust for Culture. Punjab government shall provide all sorts of resources for Shalamar Garden and Jahangir Tomb as we only need technical assistance and expertise of the Aga Khan Trust, he added. General Manager Luis Monreal said that support to the Punjab government with regard to restoration of historical places will be continued and expressed the satisfaction that partnership with the provincial government has remained wonderful. This partnership will be expanded in future as well, he added. The AKTC comprised Director of Historic Cities Program Mr. Cameron Rashti and Chairman board of Directors of Aga Khan Cultural Services Pakistan Akbar Ali Pesnani. DG Lahore Walled City Authority Kamran Lashari was also present on the occasion.
