Peshawar: Earthquake of 4.5-magnitude spread panic among people, 57 students injured in Battagram's school

Peshawar, (Pakistan Point News – 5th September, 2016) : Strong earthquake of 4.5-magnitude shook parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) province early on Monday morning. According to PDMA, the earthquake caused a stampede in Battagram’s School. Children were at 3rd floor of the school when earthquake strike the city. Earthquake spread panic among the children. 57 children got minor injuries while 3 were seriously injured. Injured student shifted to DHQ hospital. United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale with a focal depth of 9 kilometers, hit many areas, including Battagram and Muzaffarabad among others. The epicenter of the quake was somewhere in Mingora at depth of 15 km. There were reports of partial damage of houses in some areas. Following tremors, many evacuated their homes and buildings amid fears of aftershocks.
