The military spokesperson says first attack occurred on the night of July 4-5 in Hanna Urak, where militants identified by the military as Fitna al-Khawarij targeted local residents
RAWALPINDI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 8th, 2026) Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said on Wednesday that security forces had killed 54 India-backed militants while 42 people, including security personnel and civilians, were martyred during three major terrorist incidents in Balochistan over the past four days.
The military spokesperson said the first attack occurred on the night of July 4-5 in Hanna Urak, where militants identified by the military as Fitna al-Khawarij targeted local residents.
He was addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
According to Lt Gen Chaudhry, local residents resisted the assault and forced the attackers to flee before security forces arrived. Four civilians were martyred and six others sustained injuries during the attack.
The ISPR chief said the second incident took place on July 6 at a police checkpoint near the Mangi Dam pumping station, where India-backed militants launched an assault on police personnel.
He said police officers put up strong resistance and killed 15 militants during the initial exchange of fire. However, nine police personnel embraced martyrdom in the first phase of the attack.
Before reinforcements reached the area, the militants took several police personnel hostage, he added.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said security forces launched a carefully planned operation, tightening the cordon around the militants while taking into account the safety of the hostages. He said the militants later killed 18 hostage police personnel after realising they had been surrounded.
The military spokesperson said the operation in the mountainous area of Ziarat continued from July 6, resulting in the confirmed killing of 11 more militants. He added that the militant death toll could rise as clearance operations continued.
He said 27 police personnel were martyred in the Mangi checkpoint incident, while 26 militants were killed during the operation.
Referring to the third incident, Lt Gen Chaudhry said militants belonging to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) attacked an army convoy in Bela on Wednesday.
Security forces responded to the attack by killing 14 militants, while one junior commissioned officer (JCO) and 10 soldiers embraced martyrdom during the operation.
The ISPR chief also said separate intelligence-based operations were carried out in Kharan and Dalbandin, where security forces killed six militants in Kharan and eight more in Dalbandin.
Summarising the recent operations, Lt Gen Chaudhry said a total of 42 people, including 38 security personnel, had embraced martyrdom in the recent incidents across Balochistan, while law enforcement agencies had so far eliminated 54 India-backed militants.
He reaffirmed the state's resolve to continue counterterrorism operations, saying security forces would pursue every militant and their facilitators until they were brought to justice.
The military spokesperson also alleged that Afghan territory under the control of the Taliban administration was being used by militant groups to launch attacks against Pakistan.
Commenting on the recent attack on a Rangers camp in Karachi, Lt Gen Chaudhry said three of the four attackers were Afghan nationals and alleged that the Afghan Taliban administration had provided support and facilitation to the militants.
He reiterated the government's position that the militant groups identified by the state as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij do not represent the people of Balochistan or islam.
Lt Gen Chaudhry added that Pakistan would continue efforts to remove illegally residing Afghan nationals from the country and vowed that terrorism would be defeated through the combined efforts of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and the public.
