PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi issues directives to relevant authorities to address concerns and assures full support for advancement of tennis
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 9th, 2025) Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi met with Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to discuss efforts aimed at promoting and developing tennis in the country.
During the meeting, Aisam-ul-Haq highlighted the pressing issues facing tennis infrastructure in Islamabad, particularly the shortage of standard tennis courts. He emphasized the need for new facilities to support the growth of the sport and nurture emerging talent.
In response, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi issued directives to relevant authorities to address these concerns and assured full support for the advancement of tennis. He announced plans to construct new tennis courts and reiterated the PCB’s commitment to collaborating with the PTF to help expand the sport’s reach.
“Just like cricket, Pakistan is home to immense talent in tennis. We want our athletes to shine globally and bring pride to the nation,” said Naqvi. He also noted the growing popularity of padel tennis among the youth and pledged complete support for initiatives that offer young athletes new opportunities.
Aisam-ul-Haq congratulated Naqvi on the successful hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy and lauded the PCB chairman’s efforts in promoting cricket across Pakistan. He also thanked him for his commitment to resolving tennis-related infrastructure issues.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed was also present during the meeting, which marked a step toward building stronger institutional cooperation between the two major sports bodies.
