Dr. G.S. Roshni says sightings of king cobras in southern Kerala are extremely rare, and it was her first experience handling such a species

KERALA: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 8th, 2025) In the Indian state of Kerala, a courageous forest officer, Dr. G.S. Roshni, stunned everyone by expertly capturing a dangerous 18-foot-long king cobra.

The incident took place in the Anjumarthumoodu area, where the massive snake was spotted swimming in a spring.

After receiving a tip-off from local residents, Dr. Roshni arrived at the scene. A video of her calm and composed handling of the situation—using just a stick and a special bag to capture the snake—went viral on social media.

Despite the risky circumstances and several minutes of effort, she successfully managed to place the king cobra into the bag without causing it any harm. Her bravery has drawn widespread praise from the Forest Department, social media users, and the local community.

Dr. Roshni has been serving in the Forest Department for the past eight years and has successfully captured more than 800 snakes so far.

She noted that sightings of king cobras in southern Kerala are extremely rare and said it was her first experience handling such a species.
