Appointment follows Jay Shah’s elevation to a key ICC position
DUBAI: (UrduPoint Pakistan Point News-July 7th, 2025) The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday appointed Indian media and sports executive Sanjog Gupta as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The appointment marked another dominating role for India in world cricket following Jay Shah’s elevation to a key ICC position.
In a statement issued by the ICC, it was confirmed that Gupta assumed his responsibilities as CEO effective immediately. His appointment comes after a rigorous global recruitment process that began in March 2025.
The ICC revealed that the post attracted more than 2,500 applications from 25 countries, reflecting the worldwide interest in the coveted role. Gupta emerged as the successful candidate following multiple evaluation rounds and final interviews conducted by the ICC board.
Sanjog Gupta is known for his extensive experience in media strategy, cricket broadcasting, and sports development. His leadership is expected to play a key role in the ICC’s vision to expand cricket’s global footprint, enhance fan engagement, and strengthen the commercial growth of the sport.
