Shefali Jariwala’s death: Mallika Sherawat urges fans to ditch Botox

Bollywood actress stresses dangers of cosmetic obsession, with a message to fans, “Say no to Botox and artificial fillers,”

MUMBAI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 2nd, 2025) In the wake of actress Shefali Jariwala’s sudden and shocking death, Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat has made a passionate appeal to fans and fellow celebrities to reject artificial beauty standards and embrace a natural, healthy lifestyle.

Recording a video without makeup, filters, or even brushing her hair, Mallika stressed the dangers of cosmetic obsession, saying, “Say no to Botox and artificial fillers.”

The entertainment industry was shaken when Indian actress and model Shefali Jariwala, famously known for her appearance in the hit song "Kaanta Laga", passed away unexpectedly at the age of 42. The incident came as a shock to fans and peers alike, especially since Shefali was considered to be in good health.

According to Indian media, Shefali was rushed to the hospital by her husband late on the night of June 27, where the doctors declared her dead. The initial cause of death was reported to be a cardiac arrest. However, further reports suggested that the cardiac arrest may have been caused by an extreme imbalance in blood electrolytes.

The medical experts suspect this imbalance was triggered by Shefali’s use of anti-aging injections and various cosmetic drugs aimed at preserving her youthful appearance. It is also reported that police found two medicine boxes in her home. On the day of her death, she had consumed food and taken anti-aging medication.

The doctors have indicated that Shefali may have suffered the fatal heart attack due to self-medication, without expert supervision — a growing concern in the cosmetic and entertainment sectors.

As the news of her death and its possible links to beauty-enhancement practices spread, the celebrities began to speak out. Leading the call for change, actress Mallika Sherawat released a heartfelt, makeup-free video urging people to steer clear of cosmetic shortcuts and embrace a more natural way of living.

“I wanted to speak to you all this morning — no filter, no makeup, not even a comb through my hair,” said Mallika. “This is how I am at home, and this is how I want you to see me.”

Calling attention to the increasing trend of Botox, fillers and other artificial enhancements, Mallika said, “Say no to Botox and artificial fillers. Choose a healthy, natural lifestyle instead.”

Her message resonated strongly across the social media as many fans praised her authenticity and called for deeper reflection on the unrealistic beauty standards often promoted in the entertainment industry.

Shefali Jariwala’s untimely passing has not only left a void among her admirers but has also triggered an important conversation on the risks of cosmetic dependency — a message now echoed by many across Bollywood.
