Police say they did not need further physical remand of accused in Sana Yousaf’s murder case
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 23rd, 2025) A sessions court in the Federal capital on on Monday sent Umar Hayat, the main suspect in the murder of TikToker Sana Yousaf, to jail on judicial remand after the completion of his three-day physical remand.
The police produced Umar Hayat before Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Hafeez, submitting that no further physical remand was required. The prosecution did not request an extension after which the court ordered that the accused be sent to jail on judicial remand.
During the proceedings, the defense counsel raised concerns over the accused being denied a meeting with his parents. The lawyer also pointed out that the case had received a major media attention, complicating matters for the defense. The court responded by noting that the accused is now under judicial custody, and standard prison procedures would apply.
Umar Hayat, a resident of Faisalabad, allegedly shot and killed TikToker Sana Yousaf inside her residence in Islamabad. The incident had sparked public outrage and widespread media coverage, with demands for justice intensifying across social media platforms.
