The Iranian state media outlets Mehr news Agency and IRNA reported Hossein Abbasi, the governor of the province where the incident occurred, confirmed that the Israeli aircraft was downed by Iran’s advanced missile defense system.
This latest claim follows earlier statements from Tehran that five F-35 jets have been shot down since Israeli airstrikes began on June 14. Iranian officials describe the alleged interceptions as a testament to the country’s upgraded air defense capabilities and its high-alert operational readiness.
The military analysts widely regard the F-35 as one of the most advanced and expensive fighter jets in the world, featuring stealth technology that makes it extremely difficult to detect and intercept.
