MET office says highest temperature ever recorded at Lahore Airport was 48°C in 2007
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 10th, 2025) Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted temperatures of 44°C in Islamabad and Peshawar while 45°C in Lahore, 36°C in Quetta and 34°C in Karachi.
The MET office said that the highest temperature ever recorded at Lahore Airport was 48°C in 2007.
Now, after 18 years, the city experienced 46°C on June 9, and made it the hottest day.
Meanwhile, a severe heatwave continues to grip most parts of the country.
Yesterday, Dera Ghazi Khan and Jacobabad recorded the highest temperature at 49°C, followed by 48°C in Sargodha and Sibi, and 47°C in Gujranwala, Jhelum, Kasur, and Mandi Bahauddin.
On the other hand, the medical experts have advised citizens to avoid going outside unnecessarily in extreme heat, to stay hydrated, and to remain in shaded areas.
They further advised that if going outside is necessary, people should cover their heads and shoulders, and wear sunglasses to protect their eyes from the sun.
