Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee calls for immediate halt to aggression on Gaza

AMMAN, (Pakistan Point News - 02nd Jun, 2025) The Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit Ministerial Committee has reaffirmed its continued efforts aimed at halting the Israeli aggression on Gaza, ending the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip, and launching a genuine effort to fulfill the Palestinian people’s right to an independent, sovereign state on their national territory — with the two-state solution as the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace.

The committee also affirmed its full support for the Palestinian Authority and its strong backing of the political process aimed at reaching an immediate and permanent end to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, implementing the two-state solution, emphasising the need to empower the PA, accelerate reconstruction efforts, and ensure the success of the international peace conference scheduled to be held in New York later this June.

On Sunday, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, received the Saudi Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Arab-Islamic Committee on Gaza, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, along with committee members: Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The committee held a meeting following a video call with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The call, chaired by Prince Faisal, also included Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, his deputy Hussein Al-Sheikh, and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa.

The virtual meeting came after Israel blocked the committee's visit to Ramallah — a decision the committee said reflected Israel’s arrogance and its violation of international law and legal obligations as an occupying power.

The committee confirmed the intensification of efforts to urge more countries to recognise the State of Palestine and to make the upcoming international peace conference in New York, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, yield practical results.

Safadi stated that King Abdullah II emphasised the importance of the committee’s role in mobilising an effective international position to stop the war on Gaza, end the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, and launch a serious movement to realise an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on Palestinian land — the only path to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace.

He stressed that fulfilling the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in full is the foundation for achieving the just and lasting peace.

The committee reviewed ongoing international efforts and preparations for the high-level international conference on political settlement, to be organised by Saudi Arabia and France in New York this month. It also discussed the Gaza Reconstruction Conference, scheduled to take place in Cairo following a ceasefire agreement, based on the plan approved at the Arab Extraordinary Summit in Cairo on March 4, 2025.

The committee called on Israel to allow the immediate and unconditional entry of humanitarian and medical aid, enable the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to carry out its duties, and stop escalation in the West Bank — warning of the consequences of worsening the humanitarian situation.

The committee strongly condemned the Israeli authorities' prevention of the committee's planned visit to Ramallah, describing it as a blatant violation of diplomatic norms and an attempt to obstruct efforts aimed at achieving comprehensive peace and supporting the Palestinian government.
