The court rejects FIA’s plea for 10-day physical remand of Rauf Hassan and other PTI workers in a case related to anti-state propaganda.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 23rd, 2024) A local court on Tuesday allowed two-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Rauf Hassan into custody of the Federal Investigation Agency for his alleged involvement in anti-state propaganda.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah issued the order following the FIA's presentation of Rauf Hassan in court.
The court, however, sent two female PTI workers to jail on the judicial remand.
As the hearing commenced, the FIA officials produced Rauf Hassan and other party workers before the court and sought 10-day physical remand of the suspects. The FIA officials said that they wanted to recover the devices linked to the social media accounts of the PTI leaders and workers.
However, Advocate Sardar Latif Khosa who was the counsel of Rauf Hassan and other party leaders argued that the case is nothing but baseless. He said the PTI is registered political party and the Supreme Court recently held that the PTI is and would remain the political party.
He opposed the FIA’s request for the physical remand and asked the court to set the suspects free.
After hearing both sides, the court granted two-day physical of Rauf Hassan into custody of the FIA and sent two-female workers to jail on the judicial remand.
The police on Monday had arrested Rauf Hassan and other party working during raid at the PTI secretariat in Islamabad.
