Mazari says her family and her own health will be her top priorities from now and she will not be part of any political party.

Islamabad: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-May 23rd, 2023) Former Human Rights Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr. Shireen Mazari announced to quit politics, saying that she would not be part of any political party.

Shireen Mazari said she highly condemned attacks on the state institutions. She said that she would not be part of any political party, pointing out that her children, mother and her own health would be her top priorities from now on.

Shireen Mazari, a prominent figure in the PTI, has recently faced multiple arrests, leading her to make a significant decision. Citing health concerns and the distressing experiences endured by her daughter, Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir, who was repeatedly "abducted and released," Mazari has announced her departure from active politics.

During a press conference, Mazari expressed her intention to disassociate herself not only from the PTI but also from any other political party moving forward.

Mazari further disclosed the unfortunate passing of her husband five months ago, highlighting the vital role he played in supporting their children and enabling her to engage in various activities.

She emphasized that her current priorities lie with her children, mother, and personal well-being, prompting her decision to step away from the political landscape.

Additionally, Mazari, who previously served as the human rights minister, addressed the violence that unfolded on May 9 following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. She unequivocally condemned the acts of violence and affirmed her commitment to the Islamabad High Court in this regard. Mazari stressed that her condemnation extends beyond the events of May 9 and 10, emphasizing her longstanding disapproval of violence targeting state institutions such as the GHQ, Parliament, and Supreme Court.
